7/7/97 -- Cracking with the Mac -- The Bovine RC5 Cracking effort, a group at <http://rc5.distributed.net/> is working cooperatively to break an encrypted message in the RSA Labs Secret Key Challenge '97 <http://www.rsa.com/rsalabs/97challenge/>. They have a New MacOS client (over 50% faster)

7/4/97 -- PowerPC makes it to Mars. Though not widely reported, it was a custom (radiation hardened) version of the PowerPC that was the brains behind Sojourner/Pathfinder Mars mission.

7/4/97 -- PowerPC beats a Man at chess. Though not widely reported, it was a custom version of the PowerPC that was in "Deep Blue" and finally beat a Champion level chess player in a tourney.

5/18/97 -- MacExpo in PC-World - well, I wasn't there, and I started this section after it happened. So I haven't collected many articles about it. Basically Apple showed up and made their presence known which is the important thing, and that Apple keep bombarding the PC people with the truth that Apple is not going out of business -- and that Apple has some compelling technologies that they should consider. The biggest surprise has been the positive response on Rhapsody (OpenStep) at the show (and Ellen Hancocks presentation).

5/18/97 -- Apple's WWDC - Apple just had their World-Wide Developers Conference. As usual it is a lot of fun, but is compared with "drinking out of a fire-house". Information comes at you at a phenomenal rate, and hopefully you get little bits here and there. For what it's like, read Fun at WWDC.

3/15/97 -- Internet World -
