What is MacKiDo?
The way to find enlightenment through the Power of Macintosh.

I have been asked more than a few times, what is MacKiDo or why the funny capitalization?

MacKiDo is Pronounced: (Mack-Kee-Doe) NOT (Mac- Kid- Oh).

I studied Martial Arts and eastern philosophies for quite a while. Interestingly the way their writing system works seems to influence their thinking a lot more than many would think. Many eastern writing systems are made up of ideograms to represent concepts (syllables), and these sub-concepts are combined together to mean larger concepts (words) and often take on new meanings (combined from its parts).

MacKiDo is made up of 3 different ideograms. Mac, Ki and Do, respectively.

Mac - is created from the ideogram for Ai (as in Aikido). It means a concept similar to overseeing or protecting - sort of a shelter. This is combined with Apples MacOS happy face logo to create my ideogram for Mac. Which is the protective Mac.

Ki - is the ideogram for Power. It is also called Chi (Chinese). This force was the inspiration behind the concept of "The Force" in the Star Wars trilogy. It is a power that binds all things, and is the internal power inside of ourselves that we should strive to keep in balance. (I'm not talking about levitation or telekinesis - just our spirit).

Do - is the ideogram for Way or Path. This is also called the Tao, as in the philosophy of Taoism. This is the path we all take in life to achieve enlightenment, and the way we improve and grow. It is a path that struggles to find the balances in life, and the journey of our lives.

So combining these three ideograms would give us a concept meaning "The Power of the Macintosh Way", or "The Way to achieve enlightenment thought the Power of the Macintosh".

I capitalize each of the beginning syllables as a reminder as to where the sounds come from, and they are discrete concepts that come together to mean something more in their total.
